Differential Pressure

Flow measurement by differential pressure is based on the pressure in the flue gas duct. The probe has two separate chambers, which causes a difference in pressure caused by the flow in the ducts. The differential pressure resulting at the probe can be calculated into flue gas flow.

As flue gas flow measurement with differential pressure is dependent on pressure and temperature, the values for pressure and temperature in the process must be entered into the calculation. Measurement of flow with differential pressure is most suitable in processes with low dust loads as well as in processes where the temperature is above dew point.

In processes with high dust loads or condensing flue gas, blockage of the holes in the two chambers might arise or corrosion might arise in the monitor.
